CJ Obassey
The Sleeping Giant
is waking.
Born into legacy. Built behind the scenes. Now stepping out.
You’ve heard him before.
Maybe you just didn’t know his name.
Behind records by some of Nigeria’s most exciting artists is a musician whose guitar, production, songwriting and musical direction have helped shape the sound.
Now the name belongs to him.

The spirit behind the sound
CJ Obassey is Afro Panda.
A creature that does not need to make noise to prove that it possesses power.
- Calm.
- Observant.
- Patient.
- Unshaken.
Strong without forcing it. Calm under pressure. Rare by nature. Dangerous when necessary. Afro Panda is the part of CJ that has always understood that real power does not need to announce itself.
Sleeping Giant.
The awakening.
Two signals, then the album. A body of work carrying forward a legacy while CJ builds his own.

Born into music.
CJ was born into a home where music was not something you discovered. It was simply life.
He watched rehearsals. He heard guitars. Then, in 2012, everything changed. One night, a dream. And a guitar passed from father to son.
The father planted.
The son carried the seed.
